General presentation

Background

Sogelym Dixence wished to create a business park on a wasteland, formerly used as a materials landfill, located in two communes of west Lyon. The development was performed in several phases to accommodate the world headquarters of the SEB Group, which comprises more than 1000 people.

Our response

The founding idea was to place in the center of the site a 2,500 m2 body of water for the reception and collection of rainwater. To improve the environment, green spaces replaced the parking lot and a parking silo of 640 spaces was created. A wooded barrier also insulates from traffic noise. Various buildings were constructed to accommodate all of the offices, the company restaurant, conference rooms, fitness centers and the headquarters of the SEB Group.

Architectural Mission

We designed and supported the project over the various phases beginning in 2007. All six buildings with custom lighting functions consisted of a metal frame, due to the different sections of the construction site, while the facades were made of large wooden panels covered in terracotta. This design approach allowed us to anticipate the development of the site as well as its sustainability and provide an esthetic and atypical array of colors.

Engineering Mission

The landscape was the fundamental point studied by our engineers. Behind the aquatic garden with carp, herons, ducks, reeds and other species, a complex pump and filtration system is hidden that empties or fills the body of water and refreshes the air for the ecosystem that lives there.
