Eden Annecy, France
General presentation
Background
The city of Annecy committed to building an eco-neighborhood on the site of Vallin-Fier, sector for renewal in the north entrance of the commune. This lot of 17 hectares was intended to accommodate new mixed income housing, as well as facilities, including a child daycare, shops, public areas and a green belt.
Our response
Convinced that the “city dweller’s happiness” is not limited to the application of energy revenues, we envisioned a truly sustainable and responsible society project. The idea? An innovative concept of 124 housing units serving the user and providing fulfillment.
Architectural Mission
Our architects designed a complex where “living differently” is possible through the comfort of an innovative life. New buildings are springing up around and inside a large green space in the heart of city blocks, formerly thought to be private gardens. Outdoor spaces are intended to be locations for meetings and the community. A collective and participatory greenhouse is also installed on the roofs.?The frame is “biface”: rectilinear shapes along the street and a more organic sided block with a set of balconies.
Engineering Mission
We worked on the utilities and environmental aspect of this project. Studies and decisions were thus made to complete an energy-efficient construction and imagine pleasant green spaces and landscapes.
