Food Union Hekou & Hohhot, China
General presentation
Background
The agri-food group Letton Food Union requested European experts to design two dairies in China, one in Hekou, in the province of Shandong, and the other in Hohhot, in Inner Mongolia. On these two isolated sites, the constraints of the factories were primarily technical: ensure production in accordance with the regulations of the agri-food industry.
Our response
Our teams of engineers and architects from France and Poland partnered together to design all of the parts and equipment for its two almost identical plants. They include the dairy reception area, production workshops for yogurt and frozen products…, storage, logistics, raw products area, offices, and on each site, housing for workers. Objective: To integrate into the local environment and economy while respecting the production needs.
Architectural Mission
We designed the “box” according to the technical data and guidelines for engineers. For these plants, the enclosure should provide spaces of very large span and be flexible to encompass the process and not interfere with the installation of the machines. The customer has called on a European designer to check the quality of the file before its implementation.
Engineering Mission
We thought the process from A to Z, from the design according to the international standards and applying it to local regulations, to utilities and state-of-the-art equipment for production. We integrated constraints on the facilities for air exchange and energy consumption in order to optimize the operating cost. The multidisciplinary team between engineering and architecture collaborated by using a new 3D design tool.
