Gdansk Forum Gdansk, Poland
General presentation
Background
Located in the north of Poland, the city of Gdansk attracts more than 2.5 million tourists per year due to its position on the coast of the Baltic Sea and for its historic center. To improve the reception of populations and enhance its attractiveness, the city of Gdansk undertook the renovation of part of its historic center with shops, entertainment, public spaces and modernization of infrastructure.
Our response
A project of urban mixed-use restructuring with a shopping center, multiplex, gourmet restaurants, 1100 parking spaces, redesigned pedestrian areas and an office building. A canal classified as a historical monument will be integrated inside of the building.
Architectural Mission
The idea is a “collection of buildings” breaking up the monumental effect of the equipment, facing the old town. Outdoor walkways leading to a landscaped slope covering part of the construction of the building allows pedestrians to gain access to the restoration area and panoramic views. Project: This is the foundation in the urban fabric by instilling modernity.
