General presentation

Background

Volvo Group Business Services – Real Estate launched a competition in 2011 for reconfiguration of the office site of Renault Trucks built on the former Cité Berliet in Lyon. The desire is to “relook” at the large buildings and to instill the image of the brand, in the spirit of “Being from Renault”. Objective: A modern, functional complex and vector of communication since it is located close to a main road.

Our response

We went beyond the request by further opening the site on the urban side and drawing inspiration from the road transport setting, which translated into a very contemporary vision on the facades. Therefore, these are major reasons for reflecting the brand identity in the diamond that appears in the glass modules, while the entries are “protected”. In addition, the parking in the first plan was reconfigured to free up space for the benefit of flowery meadows that stage the buildings.

Architectural Mission

Our architects designed this strong concept and monitoring for the entire construction site, including the challenge that was to unfold on an active site. The facades of the 1970s buildings were gradually removed, and additional foundations were poured to accommodate the metal structure and triple glazed modules. The teams contributed to the choice of species in the green spaces.

Engineering Mission

We developed the removal and installation process for new elements of the facades. The team also made the structural sections, utilities and efficient use of the construction site by taking into account the renovated appearance and continuity of the company’s business during the work.
